And there there was one

Since I last posted, our household is down to a single cat, Conchita ("Chita"). Skeeter passed away in January 2013 and Emma passed away in April 2013. Chita loves being an only cat so we will not add any new kittens at this time.

Kitties Galore

The name for this blog came from a phrase my niece Tara spouted off at daycare. She was about three years old and had just returned from a visit to my house. At that time I had 3 cats: an ancient gray tabby named Mary Lou (named after Mary Lou Retton), a fussy tortoise shell tabby named Emma (named after Emma Peel in the Avengers - the Diana Rigg Emma, not the Uma Thurman version), and a fat gray Blue Burmese named Skeeter (with an abysmal hip/waist ratio). She was telling her day care providers that she wanted to go back to Aunt Kathy's House of Kitties. Hence my blog name...

Mary Lou passed over in January 2001 (or was it 2000?) - my years are running together. But I still have 3 cats. Chita (short for SeƱorita Conchita Bandita) joined our household in June 2004. We had her spayed before she went into heat as the vet assured us that she would then keep her kittenish ways. We did not consider the repercussions of a 15 pound kitten! Oh well, as long as we don't get too attached to anything breakable - she is a very lovable, fun cat who will play a wide variety of games with us and is the closest we have to replacing Mary Lou as our designated nap cat.

Believe it or not - I am capable to discussing more than our cat-centric household. This blog will give me an opportunity to talk about the rest of my life ... my singing adventures will be chronicled in my other blog Not a Soprano.
